The campaign concluded just before the UNFCCC meeting at Copenhagen in November 2009. The PRP’s global awareness campaign sought to improve understanding of the link between rainforests and climate change and the need for urgent action to stop deforestation.
The thread throughout the campaign was our rainforest ambassador, the Argentinian Horned Frog. We created a short campaign film with well-known faces such as Harrison Ford, Daniel Craig and even Kermit appearing with the frog to support The Prince of Wales in his call to halt tropical deforestation.
The PRP recognises that global change can only be achieved through partnership with other influential organisations and communities, which is why we have worked with over 300 partners across the business, non-profit and educational communities.

Campaign success
Our public awareness campaign was a huge success. After the launch in May 2009, there were 1.6 billion opportunities to see the campaign message. We had more than one million visitors to our website from 209 countries/territories, over ¼ million people sent a Rainforest SOS message and we had 20,000 media mentions across TV, print, radio and online.
Our campaign films have been viewed over six million times, 5,000 people recorded their own video message with the frog and we have almost 40,000 friends across four social networks.
Our Schools Programme also engaged over 600,000 pupils from 1,700 schools in rainforest learning activities.
