Partners

Deforestation is happening at an alarming rate. To stop or even slow it, we need to share ideas, co-ordinate activities and form effective partnerships. This way, we can generate maximum support for proposals that could have a huge impact in terms of cutting the rate of rainforest loss around the world.

With this aim in mind, the PRP has worked with partners across the business, non-profit and education communities. These partnerships helped us in our research in the initial phase when we were looking to develop and build consensus around our interim finance solution. In addition we worked with many partners to assist us in spreading our public awareness campaign about the connection between rainforest destruction and climate change. To see specific examples of how these partners supported our Rainforest SOS campaign, please visit Supporter Activity and Project Activity.

Corporate partners

The Prince's Rainforests Project (PRP) recognises the key role that the business community will play in helping us move to a more sustainable future.

We are backed by 18 of the world's major businesses, which form our Steering Group. We have also worked closely with businesses in a variety of ways to spread the message about the dangers of tropical deforestation to their employees, their suppliers and their customers. This helps us to educate both businesses and the general public about the destruction of rainforests and the need for an emergency solution. Non-profit partners

Non-profit organisations play a critical role in helping to protect what is left of the world's rainforests and the PRP has aimed to avoid duplicating the wide range of excellent work that is already being done to reduce deforestation. However, we recognise the importance of collaborating with non-profit organisations to complement and strengthen existing efforts.

One way we have done this is by harnessing the latest and best knowledge to help shape the future policies of decision makers. We have also gathered support for new ideas that could help the initiatives that are already in place.

Education Partners

The education sector has a vital role to play in raising public awareness of the importance of rainforests in tackling climate change. To offer as much support to schools as possible, The Prince's Rainforests Project has a special Schools website. Educational and non-profit organisations, as well as companies with educational connections, have supported our Schools programme by spreading the word about our Schools site and Rainforest SOS campaign, collaborating on schools activities and competitions, or by providing teaching resources for inclusion on the site.
